Moldova Said To Expel Three Romanian Journalists

The Republic of Moldova will expel three Romanian journalists in the upcoming days after Moldovan authorities accused Romania of being behind the anticommunist riots of the past days and decided to reintroduce visas for Romanians, RIA Novosti reported online.

"They (the journalists – e.n.) have been involved in activities that are incompatible with the law of this country,” a source said, cited by RIA Novosti. The source didn’t say which journalists will be expelled.

On Wednesday, Moldovan authorities expelled the Romanian ambassador and another diplomat and decided to reintroduce travel visas for Romanian citizens.

A general election held Sunday, which ensured a new victory for the country’s communists, sparked ample protests that degenerated into street fights.
