Depeche Mode frontman Dave Gahan was rushed to the hospital Tuesday evening in Athens, Greece, after he got ill in his dressing room before the show. The band had to cancel the Athens gig.
"What we know is that the gig in Athens was cancelled over Dave Gahan’s health problems," Emagic’s marketing and communication manager Dragos Chiscoci told MEDIAFAX. "That’s all the information we have. We don’t know when the Athens concert will be rescheduled. We’re expecting news about the rest of the tour dates. The band is also supposed to play Istanbul, Turkey, on May 14 before the Bucharest show,” he added.
Rolling Stone reported that Gahan might be suffering from stomach flu gastroenteritis.
The concert in Bucharest on Saturday would be the band’s second gig in Romania, after the show in the summer of 2006.
The concert is part of the band’s Tour of the Universe, to promote their 12th studio album, "Sounds of the Universe".
