Alexe was temporarily mandated as the county’s police chief and was fired because he failed to report the evolution of the case in real time, according to Buda.
The Romanian Police chief added that the authorities’ delayed intervention in the case because of ambiguous legal procedures regarding missing persons, and waited for the case prosecutor’s order to intervene at the address where the teenager was held.
The charred remains of a 15-year orld girl were found in the home of an auto mechanic in Caracal, Olt county on Friday. The victim managed to call the national emergency number before the murder, but authorities were sent to several wrong addresses by the system handling emergency call tracking.
Police sources told MEDIFAX that the victim called the emergency number 112 several times and described her surroundings on Thursday morning, but the Special Telecommunications Services system tracing the call offered several wrong addresses.
Authorities managed to arrive at the suspect’s correct address 19 hours after calls, where they found the teenager’s charred remains and jewelry in a barrel.
The main suspect is a 57-year old man, father of three and estranged from his wife for several years. Authorities also suspect him of being involved a previous teenager disappearance in the area.
