Some half of Romanian companies will not be giving Christmas bonuses to employees this year, while last year 93.5% of companies gave the bonus.

The average sum granted as Christmas bonus, this year, will drop from 605 lei (EUR1=RON4.2373) per employee in 2008 to less than RON230, according to a poll unfolded by the company Paylogic.
Some 65% of the bonuses will be granted in gift certificates, compared to 24% last year, and the rest will be in cash.
Employee bonuses represent a fixed sum, cumulating 38% of the overall bonuses granted last year.
Out of the 86 companies involved in the study, none will grant the 13th wage as Christmas bonus, compared to 30% last year.
Out of the 11,487 employees, some 6,600 will receive bonuses this year, compared to 10,742 employees with bonuses last year, out of a total number of 14,423 employees.
Founded in 2001, Paylogic is a salary outsourcing and staff management company with offices in Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, Timisoara, Sibiu and Medias.
