Romania’s Petrom Hikes Pump Prices By Up To RON0.22/Liter

Romania’s largest oil company OMV Petrom (SNP.RO) will raise Thursday its gasoline and diesel oil pump prices by 0.18-0.22 lei (EUR1=RON4.3688) per liter, following the value added tax increase to 24%.

Thus, as of Thursday, one liter of unleaded Premium gasoline will be raised by RON0.19, at RON4.6, while one liter of unleaded Top Premium 99+ will be bought with RON4.98 per liter, following a RON0.2 increase.

One liter of OMV Carrera 95 and of OMV Carrera 100 will cost RON4.74 and RON5.4, respectively, following a RON0.19 and RON0.22 price raise.

The OMV Premium Diesel will be bought with RON5 per liter (+RON0.2), while one liter of OMV Sprint Diesel will cost RON4.7 per liter (+RON0.19) as of Thursday.

The price of Euro Diesel 5 and Top Euro Diesel 5 will increase Thursday to RON4.48 (+RON0.18) per liter and RON4.66 (+RON0.19) per liter, respectively.

OMV Petrom owns around 550 pump stations countrywide. The company is the largest corporation in Romania and the largest gas and oil producer in Southeastern Europe. In December 2004, Petrom was taken over by Austria’s OMV AG (OMV.VI).

The gas stations of oil companies Rompetrol and OMV Petrom will be shut down for one hour on Wednesday night, to operate the legislative changes on increasing the value added tax to 24%.

Romanian fuel retailer Rompetrol Downstream, owned by The Rompetrol Group, announced to boost Thursday its gasoline and diesel oil pump prices by RON0.25-0.28 per liter.

The Government decided Saturday to increase the VAT to 24%, from 19%. The measure will come into force Thursday.
