Orange Voice, Data Services Inoperable After Fiber Network Was Sectioned

The voice service of telecom operator Orange was partially interrupted, and the data service blocked, after at around 16:00 local time the operator’s fiber optic network was sectioned in Romanian western cities of Timisoara and Caransebes.

“Orange’s fiber optic network was sectioned in two places, Timisoara and Caransebes respectively. Consequently, the voice and data services on a wide area in the Transylvania-Banat region have been affected. The incident affected clients from other regions as well. The circumstances that led to the fiber being sectioned are still unknown,” the operator informs.

An Orange team of engineers is currently trying to fix the situation.

“The voice services have been partially reestablished. In approximately two hours the voice and data services should be functioning under normal parameters,” Orange informed.
