Romanian Former Presidential Candidate To Run For Lawmaker Seat
If Bucharest’s central election bureau allows his candidacy, Cernea will run against conservative Liliana Minca, former head of the Romanian Lottery, and TV host Teo Trandafir.
A lawmaker seat in the Chamber of Deputies, in a constituency of capital Bucharest, has been vacant since early February, when conservative Daniela Popa resigned to accept a position on the board of the country’s insurance regulator CSA.
Cernea was Green Party’s candidate for the presidential elections held in 2009, when he secured less than 1% of the votes.
