Romania Faces Unprecedented Institutional, Social Crisis – Transparency International
Alistar said during the conference where he presented the national report on corruption this situation was generated by magistrates’ protests, the Parliament’s failure to accomplish its duties and the Government’s lack of transparency in public spending.
Alistar added Romania registered no progress in fighting corruption or in the justice sector in the second half of 2008, while 2009 was marked by decisions that perturb the system and contribute to the public sector’s vulnerability to corruption.
