The highest attendance was seen in New York, where there were 169 Romanian voters, followed by Washington – 71 voters, Chicago – 70 voters and Detroit – 58 voters.
In New York, at the polling station opened in the Romanian Consulate in Manhattan, after the final counting of votes, the results showed that the democrat liberals (PDL) obtained the most votes (67), followed by the liberals (PNL) – 31, social democrats and conservatives (PSD+PC) – 21, the Magyar minority party (UDMR) – 16, independent Elena Basescu – 15, the Christian Democratic Peasants’ Party (PNTCD) – six, the Greater Romania Party (PRM) – five, independent Pavel Abraham – two, and six votes were cancelled.
In Portland, Oregon, there were 39 voters, in Atlanta (Georgia) – 37, in Houston (Texas) 30, in Cleveland (Ohio) 36, in Bridgeport (Connecticut) 41 and in Los Angeles (California) 32 Romanians.
Members of the polling stations did not report any problems during voting.
For the EP elections, the Romanian Ministry of Foreign Affairs organized in the USA 19 polling stations, 11 less than in the elections for the Romanian Parliament in November 2008, and sent 30,000 voting ballots.
