The support body is aimed to speed up the project’s implementation, to help EU level decision-making and to provide political support in lobbying. The body would also support Nabucco partners from financial and gas source point of view, as well as ease the permits obtaining or exemptions, the release reads.

Gas pipeline Nabucco, linking Turkey to Central Europe via Romania, aims at supplying natural gas from the Caspian Sea to Central Europe via Turkey and Romania, avoiding Russia, and is expected to become operational by 2013.

The six companies interested in investing in Nabucco project are Turkey’s Botas, Bulgaria’s Bulgargaz, Hungary’s MOL, Austria’s OMV, Germany’s RWE and Romania’s Transgaz.
