Romanian Dacia Saw Biggest Growth In New Car Registrations In France In 201

Dacia, owned by France’s Renault, had 104,642 new cars registered in France in 2010. The Romanian carmaker’s market share increased from 2.7% in 2009 to 4.6% in 2010. In December, Dacia’s new car registrations increased 7.1% compared to the same period in 2009, to 9,288 units.

The French market registered a total 2.251 million new cars in 2010, of which 1.025 million were foreign makes.

The biggest number of new cars registered was posted by PSA Peugeot Citroen, with 728,825 units (-1.3%, market share of 32.4%), followed by Renault with 602,478 units (up 4.2% and a market share of 26.8%).

The foreign carmaker with the most new car registrations in France was Volkswagen (247,037 units, -3.9%).

Counting light commercial vehicles, Dacia’s new car registrations in France increased 65.6% in 2010, to 110,076 units and the carmaker had a market share of 4.1%.
