Marius Petcu, head of CNSLR Fratia, thinks unionists managed to convince the president not to intervene in the negotiations between the Government and the social partners, after the parties presented their arguments in the matter of freezing salaries.

“The President said our agreement with the Romanian Government, whichever it may be, will not be altered by his intervention,” Petcu said.

Romanian President Traian Basescu and social partners discussed a possible six-month moratorium on wages and pensions, alongside freezing salary bonuses, trade union officials said Wednesday.
