Romanian Tourism Min Rejects Lump Sum Tax For Tourism Agencies
„I do not agree with applying the lump sum tax to tourism agencies. Tax evasion must be done away with, but I consider tourism agencies are not characterized by wide instances of tax evasion,” Udrea said.
People close to the matter told MEDIAFAX recently that restaurants, hotels, tour operators, fitness centers, and funeral homes are among the activities for which the lump sum tax could be collected, according to a list, discussed by authorities, which includes 26 services performed for the population.
Udrea said she carried out campaigns fighting against illegal tourism activities, adding she will meet with tourism agency and Finance ministry representatives to hold talks on the issue.
The National Association of Tourism Agencies (ANAT) said it is against collecting lump sum tax for tourism agencies, adding they cannot be accused of tax evasion.
