The Air France plane, carrying 216 passengers and 12 crew members from Rio de Janeiro to Paris, fell off radars as it went into thunderstorms and heavy turbulence over the Atlantic on Monday morning, AFP reported.
The plane is presumed to have crashed into the ocean and the passengers are given slim chances of survival.
According to the carrier, 80 of those onboard are Brazilian and 73 French. The passengers list includes 18 Germans, nine Italians, six Americans, five Chinese, four Hungarians, two Spanish, two British, two Moroccans and two Irish.
On board were also one national each from the following states: Angola, Argentina, Belgium, Island, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovakia, Sweden, Turkey, Philippines and Switzerland, AFP mentioned.
