"Those who got too involved in the political side of things should have the decency to resign. (…) It would be prejudiced to say everyone should go. Those days are gone,” Sarbu said.
Sarbu met at the ministry headquarters with former minister Dacian Ciolos, but didn’t sign the papers by which he takes over his attributions, saying the law provides 15 days for this procedure.
Sarbu also had a short meeting with the managers in the ministry and ministry-run agencies.
"I wanted to encourage them before the holidays,” Sarbu said referring to the managers who fear for their jobs.
He said no decision has been made yet about the ministry’s state secretaries, but there will likely be four secretaries instead of three and a sub-secretary at present.
Former minister Ciolos said the new minister knows very well what he has to do and has the political force within the party and the governing coalition to promote and back measures needed in the agriculture sector.
