Based on evidence collected so far, prosecutors determined that Toma, the head of the maternity’s neonatology unit, failed to take proper administrative measures to provide the necessary stuff in the hospital’s intensive care unit, prosecutors said in a press release.
Five newborn babies died and six were severely injured in an explosion which took place on August 16 in the intensive care unit of the Giulesti maternity hospital. Investigators are also probing – Florentina Cirstea, the medical assistant in charge of the unit, and Vasile Dima, head of the hospital’s technical department.
The condition of the six injured newborns is unchanged from previous days, with one baby in critical state and the rest stable.
