The head of state has briefly attended a Cabinet informal meeting on the 2009 draft budget.
Finance Minister Gheorghe Pogea said last week that the 2009 draft budget, which was approved by the government in October and is pending Parliament debates, will be swiftly revised based on updated economic indicators following the international crisis.
Romania’s center-left coalition, formed of the Democrat Liberals and Social Democrats, targets a budget deficit of maximum 1.7% of the GDP in 2009 and a current account gap of 10.5% of the GDP.
Inflation target was set at 5%.
