Romania’s Tourism Min Says Bad Time For Privatizations, Upholds Stock Listing
"The Tourism Ministry would like to keep its stakes in several companies and consider selling others via the Bucharest Stock Exchange. It gives me great pleasure to learn that funds can be obtained by listing shares on the stock market, considering the stringent need for investments," Udrea said, adding the ministry she runs owns majority stakes in 12 companies.
Udrea on Monday attended the opening of the trading session, alongside the president of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, Stere Farmache, general manager Anca Dumitru, and the head of Brokers’ Association, Dan Paul.
The minister said she hoped tourism investors would list their companies on the stock market and their shares would grow.
Farmache explained to Udrea the advantages of listing shares on the stock market, especially in times of economic crisis when it is more difficult to get loans, and stressed the stock market could enable companies to obtain funds.
