Romanian Hotel Prices High; Only Low Demand Can Slash Prices – Tourism Min
Udrea stressed that the market regulates prices, therefore, as long as there is demand on the market, it is very hard to talk hotel owners into slashing prices.
Udrea also said her ministry has big plans for the Romanian seaside, namely to reorganize the southern side of the seaside and clear beaches, adding that Romania’s tourism resources represent one of the country’s rescue boats that can help it revive its economy.
„I think investments in infrastructure and services, as well as the standards we need and prices altogether, are three key factors which, along with the country’s tourism promotion, will turn Romania into a competitive and attractive tourist destination worldwide,” said Udrea, adding the country’s tourism brand will be used to promote Romania in the upcoming years.
Udrea underscored that her ministry’s budget is lower than that of the competition; therefore the European Union funds are more than useful to this end.
The 23rd edition of Romania’s Tourism Fair, held between March 25 and March 28 in capital city Bucharest, brings together 243 companies, of which, over 70 tour operators, ten professional associations in the tourism sector and 30 hotel owners.
