The announcement was made by committee president, democrat Cezar Preda, after Ungureanu’s hearing.
"We’ll send the report to the parliament Standing offices immediately to inform them of our approval," he added.
Ungureanu said a unanimous vote obliges and added he does not expect the job to be easy, if lawmakers also approve of his appointment.
Romanian lawmakers meet Wednesday in plenary session to decide on whether to designate Ungureanu in the position of head of the Foreign Intelligence Service.
