Marek Belka, Director of IMF’s European Department, will accompany the IMF chief.

During his one-day visit, Strauss-Kahn will meet Romanian President Traian Basescu, Prime Minister Emil Boc, as well as central bank governor Mugur Isarescu and Finance Minister Sebastian Vladescu, said Tonny Lybek, IMF regional representative for Romania and Bulgaria.

Strauss-Kahn will also address the Parliament and the Academy of Economic Studies, Lybek said in a statement.

Last year, Romania secured EUR13 billion in aid from the IMF, as part of a larger package that includes funds from the EU, the World Bank and other foreign lenders.

So far, Romania received around EUR9.3 billion from the IMF and EUR2.5 billion from the EU.
