Flu Epidemic Death Toll Grows To 72

A 32-year old man from Teleroman county and a 41-year old woman from Olt county died on Saturday, after both were diagnosed with type A influenza, subtype (H1)pdm09.

Both victims were also suffering from other medical conditions and had not received flu shots, according to INSP.

The death toll for the current flu season has risen to 72.

Romania’s Health Ministry declared a flu epidemic last week, after three consecutive weeks in which the numbers of new causes surpassed initial estimates.
