“For now, we are analyzing an electric panel which presumably started the fire. However, we do not rule out criminal intent. We will conduct an investigation, and we will publish the results as soon as we have them,” chief commissioner Viorel Inta said.
Over 20 firefighters were called on Wednesday evening to put out a fire at the Evangelical Church in Bistrita, a fourteenth century historical monument. The fire destroyed the church steeple, which collapsed at approximately 8.30 pm.
According to priest Johann Dieter Krauss, the church interior was not damaged.
