Meteorologists Issue Code Yellow Snow Alert For E, SE Romania

Meteorologists on Friday issued a code yellow snow storm advisory for 14 counties in eastern and southeastern Romania, valid Saturday afternoon through Sunday morning.

According to meteorologists, snow and blizzard will occur in Moldova (E), the eastern part of Muntenia (S), Dobrogea (S-E) and the Eastern Carpathians. The counties targeted are Neamt, Iasi, Bacau, Vaslui, Covasna, Vrancea, Galati, Prahova, Buzau, Braila, Tulcea, Ialomita, Calarasi and Constanta.

In the eastern part of the country and in mountain areas the layer of snow will be thick, said meteorologists.

Rain is expected in southern Romania, where precipitation will exceed 25-30 liters per square meter and even 50 liters per square meter in certain areas.

Hydrologists issues Friday a code orange flood alert for Crasna river in northern Romania, valid until Sunday afternoon, alongside a code yellow flood warning for rivers in the northwestern, central and southern parts of the country.
