AXN Takes “Suicidal Squirrels” Off The Air
White said the most recent episode, which aired Jan. 10, was “a mistake”. The network official said the network took note of the cartoon’s violent content.
White said the cartoons were acquired within a larger package and were not destined to air. However, the show did air, to fill in commercial spaces.
"We needed something to fill in the commercial space we couldn’t cover so we aired 1-minute long cartoon episodes. We apologize for this mistake," White said.
"If such incidents occur again, the network could be restricted in Romania and it would be a shame," said CNA president Rasvan Popescu.
According to CNA, the network aired episodes of the cartoon 55 times, and in 31 cases the cartoon aired before 10 p.m.
"Suicidal Squirrels" is the story of 100 adorable little squirrels that have decided they want to die and kill themselves in the most ingenious ways.
