Romania Ctrl Bk To Leave Key Rate Unchanged At 6.25% – Poll

AAFBR said most of the polled analysts expect the key monetary policy rate to remain at the record low of 6.25% until the end of 2011, with only a minor part of the respondents estimating a 25 basis point reduction.

All analysts expect the central bank will keep the minimum reserve requirements unchanged at 15% for Romanian lei and at 20% for hard currency.

The central bank has left its main interest unchanged at an all-time low of 6.25% a year since May 2010. The bank cut its key rate in four steps last year, from 8% at the end of 2009.
