Thus, some 35% of the 790,375 companies required to submit financial reports by May 31 are now facing fines between 500 and 1,500 lei (EUR1=RON4.191), the trade registry said.

Mures was the Romanian county with the highest number of deadline breaches, namely 18,845 companies, or 70.3% of all companies in the county. Arad was the county with the lowest percentage of breaches, namely 17.1%.

Some 74% of the 179,821 relevant companies in Bucharest were in compliance with the legal deadline.
