Romania’s Transport Min Selects Winners Of RON2.3B Infrastructure Bids

Romania’s Transport Ministry announced Wednesday the winners of the bids organized to assign several infrastructure contracts totaling around 2.3 billion lei (EUR1=RON3.8131), VAT excluded.

France’s Colas, Spain’s FCC Construccion, Italy’s Astaldi and Austria’s Strabag are among the winners of the Transport Ministry’s bids.

The largest project, worth RON634.4 million, VAT excluded, was won by Colas and targets the construction of the segment of highway connecting the country’s southeastern towns of Cernavoda and Medgidia.

Another contract targets the construction of the segment of highway connecting the western Romanian cities of Arad and Timisoara. The contract is worth RON482.9 million, VAT excluded, and was won by the consortium made up of FCC Construccion and Astaldi.

Astaldi also won the design and construction contract of national road DN 79 Arad-Oradea that requires an investment of RON266.3 million.

Strabag was the winner of the design and construction contract of national road DN 19 between the city of Oradea and the limit of the western county of Bihor, and the one connecting the limit of Bihor county to the northern Romanian town of Satu Mare.  The two contracts are worth RON190 million and RON141 million, respectively.

The consortium made up of Romanian companies Spedition UMB and Tehnostrade will design and execute the national road DN 12 Chichis – Bixad, in a RON107.99 million investment, while the consortium made up Greece’s Mochlos and Romanian constructor Romstrade will build the national road DN 12 Sandominic – Toplita, in a RON197.73 million project.

The national road DN 15 Reghin-Toplita will be built by the consortium made up of Spedition UMB and Tehnostrade, in a RON262.3 million investment.

The contracts’ execution duration is of 24 months.

All the construction works are financed by the Romanian Government and the European Investment Bank, or EIB.

The contracts were assigned to the companies offering the lowest price. All the companies participating in the bids met the technical conditions established in the bid documents.
