The Romanian office with the EU Parliament issued a statement late last year saying that elections for the next EU legislative body will be take place on June 7, 2009. Romanians will have to select 33 euro-deputies.
The elections will take place at the same time in all 27 member states, giving the 375 million voting European citizens a say in EU politics.
Between January 2007 and June 2009, according to the Romania and Bulgaria Accession Act, the number of deputies in the European Union Parliament is 785, of whom 35 are Romanians; they were elected following the first elections on November 25, 2007.
