“We welcome Turkey’s decision to remove visas for Romanian citizens who stay there for less than 90 days. Of course, Romania will consider assessing certain facilities for the Turkish citizens’ movement, especially of the business people,” Diaconescu said during an official visit to Turkey.

He said the measure will be enacted soon.

"A decision will be made by the Turkish Government in the upcoming period, and it will mention the enforcement date. It’s important that a political decision was adopted and announced. What is left is the document enacting the measure,” Diaconescu said.

“We agreed on a strategic partnership between Romania and Turkey which has an important economic component,” Diaconescu said, adding that a strategic group was created at the level of the foreign affairs ministries of the two countries, that will focus on political-military and strategic problems and also on the bilateral cooperation in various issues.

Romanian foreign affairs minister Cristian Diaconescu began on Wednesday a three-day official visit at the invitation of the Turkish counterpart, Ahmet Davutoglu.
