Presidency Files On High-Ranking Officials Reached The Justice Min

The presidential administration announced it received only the copies of the documents regarding the eight high-ranking officials, which it sent to interim justice minister Melescanu so that the criminal investigation against the former and current ministers begin.

The president’s office requested that Melescanu ensure the security of the documents and take the necessary measures to return them to the presidential administration.

Earlier Friday, Melescanu said he cannot honor the request of president Basescu and start the criminal investigation against the eight ministers because the documents received from the president’s office do not contain, according to the law, the ministers’ actual files.

Basescu asked Melescanu on Wednesday to start criminal investigation procedures against eight high-ranking officials.

Basescu told Melescanu to start criminal investigation against Adrian Nastase, former prime minister between 2000 and 2004, Miron Mitrea, former transportation minister between 2000-2004, former justice minister Tudor Chiuariu, acting labor minister Paul Pacuraru, acting IT&C minister Zsolt Nagy, politician Victor Babiuc, former economy minister Codrut Seres and former agriculture minister Traian Decebal Remes.
