President Challenges Hunting Bill At Constitutional Court
The head of state says in the challenge that the deciding body, the Lower Chamber, brought a series of amendments to the bill which were not debated in the Romanian Senate previously.
He brings points to a previous Constitutional Court decision, which states that the deciding body in the Parliament cannot substantially modify the subject and configuration of a bill compared to its initial version.
Romania’s Lower Chamber passed 19 amendments when it voted the bill in November. The initiative is supposed to transpose into law a 2017 government decree which only contained one article.
