"The Government might decide and approve the guarantees requested by Renault and Ford in the first quarter of next year, after talks with EIB and EC," Eugen Teodorovici, state secretary in the Economy Ministry told MEDIAFAX Wednesday.

Ford and Renault requested state guarantees for EIB loans worth EUR400 million and EUR100 million, respectively, government sources stated last week.

Carmakers are currently faced with a significant sales decrease, on the backdrop of the international financial crisis.

Ministry sources said Wednesday that Romania will grant state aid between EUR15.4 million and EUR37.4 million to Romanian carmaker Dacia and four car part suppliers to support their output and product diversification.

The companies to be granted state aid include Dacia (EUR15.4 million) and auto part suppliers Delphi Diesel Systems Romania (EUR24.7 million), KS Atag Romania (EUR27.9 million), Calsonic Kansei Romania (EUR17.9 million) and Honsel (EUR37.4 million).
