Romania Presidential Election Voter Turnout At 24.01% By GMT1100

Turnout was of 23.32% in urban areas and 24.94% in rural areas.

In capital Bucharest, voter turnout by GMT1100 was of 23.34%.

Also, by GMT1100, 256,886 people voted in the 3,359 number of polling stations set up countrywide for people outside their are of residence on election day.

About 18 million Romanian eligible voters are expected to cast ballots Sunday to elect their president for the next five years and will choose between incumbent President Traian Basescu and social democrat Mircea Geoana.
