FNSA union leader Valer Suciu said the Government was „impervious” to the protest action and has not called the union in for talks. He added that politicians and local authority leaders pressured the unionists into returning to work – „the clear signs of a democratic-liberal totalitarianism which is about to be established.”
Suciu said that, although the Government „again did not show any concern for its citizens,” the strike succeeded in raising awareness among lawmakers, who may support the opposition’s motion of no-confidence. He also said the union will continue its „struggle” and take part in any protest action held by union confederation Cartel Alfa, including a human chain around the Parliament on the day of the motion debate.
FNSA members went on strike Monday. Tuesday, its leaders announced that the strike would last at least until the Parliament has voted on the no-confidence motion.
