Dancila voiced her intention after former party treasurer Mircea Draghici presented a list of spending by PSD branches this year, shortly before he resigned, according to the sources. However, no efforts were made to begin an audit as of yet due to preparations for the party’s June 29 National Congress, they added.
Former PSD treasurer Draghici, who is investigated by anticorruption prosecutors for suspicions of using party funds in personal interest, resigned from office during a party National Political Bureau meeting on June 5.
Viorica Dancila is the current interim chairman of the social-democrats, and announced this week that she will run for a full term at the party congress.
