“The Romanian executive was constantly preoccupied with protecting and respecting the rights of Romanian citizens who are studying and working in Great Britain. Ever since the beginning of the negotiation process we requested an inter-ministerial body for the Brexit problem, which closely looks at how the agreement’s provisions are implemented so that Romanian citizens residing in Great Britain would not be affected. We are prepared to offer solutions for our citizens who are working and studying in the United Kingdom, regardless of the scenario its withdrawal from the EU will take,” the Romanian PM said at the beginning of Thursday’s cabinet meeting.
The Romanian chief of cabinet added that the country will respect the UK Parliament’s negative vote on the withdrawal agreement, though she considered that the deal limited the possible negative consequences of agreement.
The UK Parliament rejected the agreement with a large majority on Tuesday, sending the withdrawal process into uncertainty little less than two months until the negotiation deadline is set to expire.
