Romanian Women To Get Pap Smear Testing Charge Free Starting Autumn
Pap smear testing targets all sexually active women.
Women will undergo three Pap smear tests throughout the program and if all tests turn negative, the respective women will be excluded from the risk category.
Professor doctor Gabriel Banceanu, head of the Romanian Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology, on Thursday said the Pap smear testing is the most effective, widely used method for early detection of pre-cancer and cervical cancer.
Banceanu also said the program could be unfolded over a period of three to eight years and will include three tests. He added that women tested negative will be excluded from the risk category and stressed no estimations were made with respect to the number of women included in the program.
The test may also detect infections and abnormalities in the endocervix and endometrium.
