“Inspector Fanel Burciu used to work for our institution. We discovered Mr. Burciu’s file contained several medical documents certifying he was unable to work, as he is retired from the Interior Ministry with degree II infirmity – the complete loss of the capacity for work. Therefore, the National Integrity Agency’s disciplinary Commission was summoned and decided to notify the Prosecutors’ Office. The Agency president has made the notification and prosecutors are already at work on this case,” Agency secretary general Horia Georgescu told MEDIAFAX on Monday.
According to Georgescu, the Agency claims RON103,000 as damages against Burciu, comprising the salaries paid to him while he worked in the institution.
Georgescu said that Burciu submitted medical documents which claimed he was fit for work when he had his job interview. The Agency secretary said the disciplinary Commission will request further information from the Ministry of the Interior, where Burciu previously worked and retired from.
Prosecutors with the Court of Bucharest Sector 1 were notified in this case on March 19.
