Romanian Govt Alliance Withstands PM Switch Blow

Romanian social democrat head Mircea Geoana said after the meeting between PSD and PDL, that the announced schedule will be maintained and Tuesday there will be a new meeting between the two parties to establish the government structure, as talks on the governing agenda are "basically complete."

Asked about Theodor Stolojan’s decision to back out of the prime minister position and the manner in which the two parties will overcome this obstacle, Geoana said this was “a first test of the Partnership for Romania” that was signed Sunday, a test that was “treated with seriousness."

"We want a government as soon as possible," Geoana said.
 
"Tomorrow morning (Tuesday) we will complete the structure. Talks are basically complete on the governing agenda. Tomorrow morning we will meet to establish the structure of the government," Geoana mentioned.
 
"We want to maintain the announced schedule," Geoana added referring to the creation of the new PDL-PSD government, which should be formed by December 22.
