Euronews Mulls Broadcasting In Romanian
Cayla said Romanian could be the first southeastern European language used by Euronews.
Cayla explained that launching Euronews in Romanian could bring advantages for Romania, as well as for the European television network. Thus, according to the Euronews CEO, a Romanian broadcast could represent an advantage for the Romanian audience, which would receive better access to European information, as well as for Romanian journalists, who would work within Euronews.
Cayla made the announcement while introducing Lucian Sarb as editorial director at Euronews, a position that the Romania journalist will take starting May 4.
Sarb will coordinate a multicultural editorial team and will work to develop, diversify and create new television programs.
Euronews was launched on January 1, 1993, as the first European multilingual news channel. At the moment, the network broadcasts in eight languages worldwide and competes against CNN and BBC World.
