Romania February Inflation 2nd Highest In EU
EU’s annual inflation was 1.4% in February, down from 1.7% in January. A year earlier, the rate was 1.8%, according to the EU’s statistics office Eurostat.
Hungary reported the highest annual inflation in the EU, of 5.6%, followed by Romania and Poland (3.4%).
The lowest rates were observed in Latvia (-4.3%), Ireland (-2.4%) and Lithuania (-0.6%), Eurostat data showed.
Romanian consumer prices rose 0.2% in February compared with the month earlier. EU’s monthly inflation was 0.3%.
Annual inflation in the 16 states that use the euro was 0.9% in February, down from 1% in January. A year earlier, eurozone’s rate was 1.2%.
In February, the lowest annual rates were observed in Latvia (-3.3%), Ireland (-2.4%) and Estonia (-1.0%), and the highest in Hungary (6.2%), Romania (5.2%) and Poland (3.9%).
The lowest 12-month averages up to January were registered in Ireland (-2.2%), Portugal (-0.9%) and Estonia (-0.6%), and the highest in Romania (5.3%), Hungary (4.6%) and Poland (4%).
