“One hour ago, I signed the decision to dismiss Mr. Cuteanu,” Prime Minister Boc announced in Parliament, after meeting with the Democratic Liberal Party’s deputy group.

The Bucharest district 1 court sentenced former social democrat deputy Emilian Curtean to five years prison on Monday for mishandling over 200,000 lei (EUR1=RON4.2116) government funds while leading the state Secretariat for Revolutionaries’ Affairs.

Emilian Cutean was taken to court in late April 2006 by the National Anticorruption Department, on charges that he carried out financial operations which were incompatible with his position and using his position against public interest.
