Mig 21 Lancer Crashes In C Romania, Two Dead

Romania’s Defense Ministry said in a press release the members of the crew, the pilot and the copilot, died in the crash.

Cluj prefect Florin Stamatian said the aircraft participated in a training mission and was heading for the military base in Campia Turzii. He said the aircraft crashed one kilometer away from the military base, on a scarcely populated area, and added there were no other victims.

According to the ministry, the aircraft belonged to the Campia Turzii 71st Air Flotilla and was on a weather research mission to prepare future training flights.
