Melescanu, currently minister of defense and interim minister of justice, said he is not “enthused” about the proposition, but the party’s decision is motivated by the liberals’ assumed obligation to solve the crisis involving the Justice Ministry.
Liberal sources told Mediafax Stroe was voted 19 to two to be nominated for the Defense Ministry.
Another name considered for the defense minister position, which would be vacated if Melescanu becomes justice minister, was that of Norica Nicolai, whom President Traian Basescu refused to appoint justice minister.
