Speaking on a television show, Tariceanu said one of the crisis’ effects will be a slowdown in company activity, due to reduced consumption.

Tariceanu announced he will schedule monthly meetings with officials of the central bank and economists to thoroughly analyze Romania’s financial situation and to order appropriate action based on related developments.

He said the local currency should remain in a “stable area”, given the leu’s resistance to recent speculative attacks.
