Provisional results of European Parliament elections ended June 8, published on the EP website, show Romanian social democrats getting 11 seats and democrat liberals - 10 seats, and independent Elena Basescu gets an MEP seat.

According to the EP website, liberals get five seats, the Hungarian minority party gets three and the far right Greater Romania Party gets three seats.
The EP website also places social democrats first with 30.8% of votes, followed by democrat liberals with 29.7%, liberals with 14.5%, the Hungarian minority with 9%, the Greater Romania Party with 8.68% and independent Elena Basescu with 4.22%.
According to these provisional results, Romania will be represented in the European People’s Party (EPP) by 13 lawmakers (democrat liberals and Hungarian minority), in the Party of European Socialists (PES) by 11 lawmakers (social democrats), by five lawmakers in the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe (ALDE), and by one in the Greens-European Free Alliance group.
Voter turnout in Romania was at 27.4%, below the EU average of 42.85%.
