Romanian National Defense Council Postpones Army Outfitting Plan Approval

The Romanian High Council for National Defense postponed Tuesday, until a later meeting, the approval of the plan for the outfitting of the Army, since this plan will be discussed in Government, the Presidency announced, adding the Army outfitting Strategy, however, has been approved.

The Presidency informed that the High Council for National Defense adopted the Strategy for the outfitting of the Army, which establishes the objectives and medium and long term priorities of the outfitting and which also represents the basis for the development of the Army outfitting plan and the multi-annual programs.

"As for the outfitting plan for the Romanian Army in the short and medium term 2010 – 2015, approval of the document has been postponed until a future meeting of the Council, after it is discussed in Government. In addition, the High Council for National Defense approved two memos on the signing of agreements regarding the protection of classified information on the defense segment, between the Ministry of National Defense and the similar institutions in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, and the Republic of Armenia," said a press release issued by the Presidency.

Foreign Intelligence Service director Mihai Razvan Ungureanu presented a memo on the security in areas with major terrorism potential, others than the Middle East, and the potential risk factors for Romania.
