Teachers will be on strike each day that has any national exam scheduled.
Unionists also decide to withdraw their support for the Strategy for Education and Research for which they signed an agreement on October 24, 2008.
"If the Government continues to give us the same spiteful attitude regarding our salaries, unions will stage further protests,” the four union federations representing the education sector said in a document adopted Thursday.
About 80% of Romanian teachers are in favor of boycotting national exams, which would lead to a change in the evaluation format established by the Ministry of Education.
Unionists will meet with President Traian Basescu Thursday.
On Tuesday, the government approved an emergency decree that freezes all wages in the public sector until the end of the year, postponing wage hikes teachers were supposed to get. Also Tuesday, the Parliament endorsed the government decree revising the 2009 state budget, which lowers the budget of the Education Ministry.
