Senate quaestor Ioan Chelaru said at the end of the standing office meeting that the head of the budget-finance commission notified, liberal senator Aron Popa, notified Senate leaders that very few members of the public administration commission attended the joint meeting.
Chelaru said the Senate Regulation stipulates that half plus one members of each commission must attend a joint meeting of several commissions.
"The standing office decided the budget-finance commission alone will vote on the draft law approving Ordinance no. 50/2008 on the car tax," Chelaru said.
Earlier Tuesday, the Senate’s budget-finance and public administration commissions amended the ordinance, retaining the elimination of the car tax from the Fiscal Code, eliminating the new car pollution tax, which the ordinance introduced, and stipulated tax money are to be paid back in full.
